DATA LOGGING 101

One of the best features of IE's PowerLINK cable is the ability to verify the healthy operation of your IE Tuned VW or Audi engine using our built-in data logging function. Nothing is better than a piece of mind that your investment is operating optimally, this article will show you how to easily log your own car using your IE PowerLINK and Flash Wizard software.
Connect your IE PowerLINK cable into the USB port on your Windows powered laptop or tablet. Plug the Powerlink into your car's OBD2 port and turn on the ignition (without starting the vehicle). Verify you have a solid internet connection, and launch the IE Flash Wizard software.
Note: Our software engineers are always rolling out new versions of the software packed full of updates, make sure your software and drivers are up to date anytime you open the IE Flash Wizard software.
On the Flash Wizard home screen, press the "Extras" button, then "Data Log". Start the vehicle's engine.
Note: The extras screen has multiple options depending on engine. We will cover more of these in future videos.
The Data Log screen will display your vehicle's available log parameters and display live data.
Notice the Stop button is grayed out, and the bottom right hand of the screen will display "Not Recording." This screen is only displaying live data and NOT actually logging or saving to a file yet. To begin your log, click START.
LOG DRIVING TECHNIQUE
The type of driving during a data log will vary depending on what you’re diagnosing/verifying. The best data log is as short as possible during the anomaly you are attempting to record. The most common data log an IE calibrator will ask for is a single gear pull. We suggest if you have a six speed transmission to use third gear and if you have a 7 or more speed transmission to use the fourth gear for your pull.
While driving in the suggested gear, allow engine speed to drop to 2000 RPM. Press start and perform a WOT (Wide Open Throttle) pull to redline. Pull over safely, press stop, then save.
Notes: If you have an automatic transmission use the manual or Tiptronic mode for your log. Ensure to not activate the kickdown switch if this feature is equipped on your car.
A dynamometer or closed race course is required to safely perform data logging.
Once you've completed your data log and pulled over to a safe location, click Stop, and then Save.
Note: Once you've selected stop you'll see the Start button has become green again, and the bottom right hand corner of the screen will say "Not Recording"
Upon clicking save, FlashWizard will prompt you with a save location window. Your datalog save name will default with the current date. We suggest you rename the data log to something you'll be able to identify later should you ever need to reference it again.
You have now completed your data log. If this is for personal reference, the log file is compatible with many specific log reader websites such as Datazap. If your log file was requested by our tuning support team, upload the file as-is and email the log to: tuning@performancebyie.com
