Due to the low availability of 12V VR6 engines, all IE 12V VR6 Short Blocks require an existing AAA core block and crankshaft to be sent in for the build. All cores will be critically inspected and verified by an IE Race Engine specialist before being accepted as a good and useable core. All engines are assembled in-house and assembly times can vary depending on workload. Typical build times can be as fast as 1-2 weeks or as long as 3-4 weeks from the time we receive your cores. If you have any questions about the ordering or core process, please contact our helpful sales staff: email@example.com
*Core must include a complete short block assembly, including block, crank, and main caps.
Once the OEM VW AAA block is cleaned and multi-point inspected, an Integrated Engineering torque plate is used to secure the block into the proper shape during the boring and honing process. This guarantees true round cylinders and results with a precise piston to cylinder wall clearances necessary for long engine life. The block deck receives a freshly machined surface for a proper head gasket seal and strong compression. The main caps are installed and measured to exacting specifications using ARP main studs ensuring exact roundness for proper crank stability. The rotating assembly is then installed with Integrated Engineering forged H beam rifle drilled connecting rods, JE 83mm 9:1CR forged pistons, all new OE engine bearings, and a polished OEM crankshaft by an IE expert engine builder. All clearances are recorded on a multi-point critical dimension checklist with all measured clearances that is included with your block, along with an instruction & care pamphlet.
INDIVIDUAL PARTS TECHNICAL INFORMATION
IE H Beam Connecting Rods
IE's H beam connecting rod design is custom-crafted and optimized by our engineers using the latest CAD and FEA software then rigorously tested in our in-house engine dyno and chassis dyno test cells. This results in a connecting rod that is reliably strong for high-performance boosted builds. With the included rifle drilling option, oil is forced to the wrist pin by means of a small hole drilled through the rod vertically. This reduces friction on the pin and pin bushing, thus reducing wear and further extending engine life.
JE Forged Pistons
JE Pistons make for a stout reliable engine for daily driving, road racing, drag racing, or full out competition racing. Built to withstand serious performance punishment, JE forged pistons have been specifically designed and engineered for acceleration forces of more than 8000 G's and directional changes exceeding 200 times every second. Additionally, each forging is application specific minimizing weight and ensuring a reliable interaction with the rotating assembly.
ARP Main Studs
This ARP main stud kit provides reliable crank stability further eliminating main cap walk and fretting. ARP main studs are made from premium grade 8740 alloy steel and heat treated to 200,000psi then thread rolled for industry-leading strength and reliable engine hardware.
Your supplied core or new OE crankshaft receives specialty machine work before engine assembly. The oil holes are chamfered and the journals are polished for improved oiling properties before receiving a multi-point critical measurement test to ensure long operating life of the rotating assembly.
Each block is finish painted with durable black enamel and packaged inside a specialty engine bag with a desiccant pouch to remove any moisture that may accumulate during the shipping process. They are then securely bolted into specially manufactured shipping crates ensuring there is no damage.
