IE's Flow Distribution System (FDS) is light years ahead of other intercoolers, delivering an effective use of the entire core by utilizing precisely shaped fins to force air flow evenly across the entire surface. As a result, the IE FDS intercooler has been proven to drastically reduce intake air temperatures more so than any other units available on the market -offering the largest power gains possible.

NO BOOST LEAKS

Nothing is worse than a boost leak! Advanced CNC machining of the inlet and outlet produces a high-grip surface that locks the silicone into place. A flat stop edge prevents the hose from being installed too far forward while a beveled edge adds enhanced grip for the hose clamp to stop it from sliding back. This high attention to detail creates a friction grip keeping your boost hoses in place for good.

INCREDIBLY STRONG

Dedicated to life-long reliable operation, the end tanks are manufactured from from high quality aluminum castings with ultra-thick and reinforced mounting. When it comes to fitting this massive IC into place, there is no room for error. All mounting bosses and surfaces are in-house precision CNC machined and hand verified for an exact fit.

PRECISION BUILT

Manufacturing the largest intercooler on the market is not easy and leaves no room for mistakes. After the end tanks are meticulously in-house CNC machined, the core and tanks are combined with incredible precision TIG welding. Every single intercooler goes through a multi-point critical inspection and is tested on our leak-down station before shipping. This work ensures a reliable product that it is ready to install.

PERFECT FIT

Despite it's size and features, the IE FDS intercooler is a perfect OEM replacement and requires no modifications to install. Mounting points for the factory radiator and intercooler mounts are machined in. Stainless steel mount brackets are included for an improved and stronger condenser mount. Everything around the performance unit remains untouched and installs as if it were a factory piece.

ELIMINATE HEAT SOAK

Heat soak occurs when the heat generated exceeds the cooling capacity of the intercooler. The most common symptom is the noticeable loss of power after long term acceleration or several back-to-back power pulls. By greatly increasing the core size and useable area of the core with FDS technology, we have eliminated the heat soak, keeping the intake air temperatures consistently lower than OEM and competition intercoolers.

DYNO RESULTS

Real-world power numbers are achieved using our in-house dyno cells to see the effect the effect the intercooler upgrade has on horsepower and torque. The testing was performed in controlled conditions and performed the same day back to back.

The above gains are a result of various design details:

  1. The massive increase in core size dramaticially reduces heat soak.

  2. The internal FDS design forces air to utilize the entire core volume increasing effciency.

  3. Lower intake air temps and reduced pressure drop increase horsepower and torque.

Easier to put in than taking the old one out.

I always love parts that do truly drop right in and replace the stock part. No issues here, no clearances need to be made, no trimming of air deflectors, no mess. Took me about 3-4 hours all in between removal and installation, and unrelated work, to fit. Car started right back up, no issues with my tune, and the car seems much happier on hot days.

This is a stunning kit! you can choose from black or silver which is very neat! i went with the black intercooler and it looks😍 very nice piece of kit and a VERY big difference compared to stock!

Well Worth it

I am super happy with my Intercooler fitment went pretty well you will need an extra pair of hands to help out it took about 4hrs but well worth the hours. I could not believe the size difference between the stock intercooler and the IE FDS intercooler. Went for a drive after install and all I can say is you feel the difference from low rpm to high rpm. I did not expect it to be this good it feels like there is new life to the car. I would definetly recommend this cooler. I am on stage 1 tune with a stock airbox would be interesting to see what the IE cold air intake can add to the IAT as I am stoked to see how much it dropped with just the cooler. My first dattalog was with the stock cooler and second photo with IE FDS Cooler. Ambient temp was 6 degrees celcius on both logs

Best in the cooler in the market

The intercooler is very good quality. The worlds look amazing I really love IE’s products I definitely recommend the products. It is truly worth it. Now if you’re thinking about installing it with a CSF radiator on mk7.5 GTI & Mk7 they both will boat on together very well, but the radiator lower holes will touch the AC pulley while driving Rob through the cramp on stock engine mounts, but if you change the engine mounts to a BFI stage one it will keep the motor from moving and it won’t touch the clamp on the lower holes along. You are fine with the fan shroud being close to the block so far nothing didn’t get robbed through and I have been driving in for more than 5 months, that’s with stock charge piping it is pretty tight in between I might try Unitronic are charge piping because of the size. By the way It would definitely fit very well without the radiator

Yes, do so

The install went well - those two white clips that hold the cooling assembly together would be a nightmare without a second set of hands, so mind that. As for the intercooler, a direct fit, and my stage 1 high torque profile S3 now pulls more strongly at the top end. The sensation of dissipating power at the top end, then gear change, then fall back into torque, then dissipating top end power again, etc, is no longer present. In other words, my **** dyno tells me this is a horsepower mod as opposed to a torque mod, at least in stage 1 form. Absolutely recommend, awesome quality piece.
