Was waiting for iE to drop a catback for the Mk7 GTI and it sure delivers. After watching many exhaust videos and debating whether to even get an aftermarket catback to go with my iE downpipe, I finally pulled the trigger and installed a couple days ago.

Pleasantly surprised that it's not annoyingly loud yet still opens up on hard acceleration. Absolutely ZERO drone at highway speeds; whatever witchcraft iE pulled with the DroneTrap tech definitely works.

Installation was quite easy by myself on jackstands. Everything necessary was present to bolt up to the iE or OEM downpipe. The 4" slash-cut tips, overall sound produced, and Stage 2 tune complete how the car should have shipped from the factory.

I do hope iE produces a resonator delete at some point that I could snag and have the option to remove the resonator included with this catback. After watching their exhaust sound video on their Mk8 (and assuming things are more or less equal compared to the Mk7), it seems like a res delete would unlock a tad more aggression in the exhaust note.

if you're looking for the perfect daily driver Catback that isn't going to disturb your neighbors or wake the baby, this is the one for you. I'm writing this review as of I was scouring the interwebs meticulously searching for the perfect Catback Exhaust for my needs. yes it's beautiful, yes it's lighter, and yes there is no drone. do I wish it was a bit louder? of course, but the fact that it sounds so clean and sophisticated beats the fact that it isn't obnoxiously over the top. I can see it being paired very well with the downpipe. he** I'm even thinking about going stage 2 and adding the DP just to get that little extra bit of tone that sends me right to the line of, is that too loud? nah it's integrated engineering 😎 5 stars gents.

I installed this catback on my stage 2 GTI with the IE downpipe. I was expecting this to be a very loud combo. I was surprised when I fired up the car and it sounded very deep and sophisticated. Driving around in normal mode sounds nice and deep and not obnoxious at all. No annoying drone was heard. When the car is in Sport mode, the exhaust wakes up. It's pretty loud and sounds amazing. The pops and bangs sound so crispy. Overall, the exhaust sounds very refined.
