HOW TO IE TUNE YOUR VW 2.5L

IE ECU Stages for your VW 2.5Lengine are available as Stage 1 stock engines or with an IE intake manifold upgrade for Stage 2. Read below to determine the best stage for your build!

In order to flash your vehicle, you will need an IE POWERlink Direct-port Flash Tool (sold separately) and a Windows 7+ powered laptop. Already own an IE POWERlink cable? Contact us to purchase upgrade credits, there is no fee to upgrade tunes and you only pay the difference in tune cost.

    IE VW 2.5L Stage 1 Tune
    The IE Stage 1 VW 2.5L tune delivers an aggressive power upgrade without having to install any hardware modifications. Perfect for customers looking for a jump in power without adding any additional hardware. In a matter of minutes, the vehicle will be much more enjoyable to drive with a boost in performance. This tune also deals with many factory tune annoyances on the 2.5L engine such as throttle hesitation, rev hang, and response that greatly adds to drivability feel. Designed for use with regular pump 91/93 octane.

    IE VW 2.5L Stage 2 Tune

    The IE Stage 2 VW 2.5L performance flash is designed for customers looking to maximize the performance of the factory engine with an IE Performance Intake Manifold (Sold Separately). IE Stage 2 software fine-tunes the ECU calibration to match the manifold flow characteristics. Stage 2 results deliver massive power gains across the powerband, fully realizing the 2.5L engine's potential without adding boost or high compression pistons. *IE Stage 2 Manifold Tune is only for vehicles with electric power steering.

      STAGE 2 INTAKE MANIFOLD FITMENT

      POWER STEERING
      This manifold will fit all VW 2.5L engines with the electric power steering system. Some later style engines use a hydraulic power steering pump, which sits right below the factory intake manifold. If your car is equipped with a hydraulic power steering pump, this manifold will not fit.

      AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION TUNE REQUIRED
      Automatic vehicles require a matching IE TCU Transmission tune to allow high revving of the automatic transmission. The stock automatic tune has internal transmission rev limit controllers that shift before the manifold and software can make the extra power gained through the upgrade. IE's Auto Transmission Tune removes this limiter allowing full advantage of the manifold & tune.

      Once a tune purchase is applied to your vehicle's ECU, the tune is permanently registered to the vehicle and non-transferable to other vehicles. Tune can be transferred to a second party in the event of vehicle transfer of ownership only.

      Love the tune, am I able to run 93 in it since I’m stage 1? Car meant for 87 or 91 but tune says 91/93 I’m in bc Canada

      Pioneers for the 2.5 Community

      This tune is a very effective way to get great performance out of your 2.5. The 2.5 as we know is a reliable engine, this tune opens the floodgates to the tuning possibilities that are available to the 2.5 it definitely leaves you wanting more in a positive way (hence why I will be purchasing the IE manifold for the 2.5 in a couple of months). The Stage 1 tune delivers power and performance to your 2.5 within minutes. Installation is Fast and easy. I highly recommend this product. I would just recommend to switch to 91-93 octane weeks before the tune as well as some fuel system treatment so your 2.5 is already running the recommended fuel beforehand.

      Brilliant programming

      These guys knocked out of the park. Car still works well as a daily, but when you want to drop the hammer, man does it deliver. I've had this installed on a '12 wagon for over a year now. Zero issues. I did a zero to sixty run on a quiet road behind my house last night. My methodology may be a bit iffy, but I set my phone countdown timer for 7 sec., hoping to be in that range......I guessed about 7.5. So....even though no launch control w/ the tipronic, I hold brake and rev, release and start phone. Alarm goes off at 62 mph. That would make 0-60 around 6.9-7.0 sec. That's quicker than a GTI of the era by a full second. With a bullet proof motor. Kudos to IE. Zero regrets on purchase price, or penalty of tuning 93 octane. Well worth it for the fun factor. BTW: car has GTI suspension and brakes, body brace and a P-flow intake. (because of short ram, there is no power below 3K, but it sounds fantastic on full throttle)

      Had some stumbling issues W/loading the tune(My wifi& laptop was acting Wacky) but Once the Tune was Done Wooooooo 1st Gear Took Of Like Never Before!
