HOW TO IE TUNE YOUR VW 2.5L

IE ECU Stages for your VW 2.5L engine are available as Stage 1 stock engines or with an IE intake manifold upgrade for Stage 2. Read below to determine the best stage for your build!

In order to flash your vehicle, you will need an IE POWERlink Direct-port Flash Tool (sold separately) and a Windows 10+ powered laptop. Already own an IE POWERlink cable? Contact us to purchase upgrade credits, there is no fee to upgrade tunes, and you only pay the difference in tune cost.

PLEASE NOTE: Mobile phone app flashing support is unavailable for VW MK5 & MK6 generation 2.0T engines. These engine ECUs require a Windows 10 or newer laptop for tuning.

    IE VW 2.5L Stage 1 Tune
    The IE Stage 1 VW 2.5L tune delivers an aggressive power upgrade without having to install any hardware modifications. Perfect for customers looking for a jump in power without adding any additional hardware. In a matter of minutes, the vehicle will be much more enjoyable to drive with a boost in performance. This tune also deals with many factory tune annoyances on the 2.5L engine such as throttle hesitation, rev hang, and response that greatly adds to drivability feel. Designed for use with regular pump 91/93 octane.

    IE VW 2.5L Stage 2 Tune

    The IE Stage 2 VW 2.5L performance flash is designed for customers looking to maximize the performance of the factory engine with an IE Performance Intake Manifold (Sold Separately). IE Stage 2 software fine-tunes the ECU calibration to match the manifold flow characteristics. Stage 2 results deliver massive power gains across the powerband, fully realizing the 2.5L engine's potential without adding boost or high compression pistons. *IE Stage 2 Manifold Tune is only for vehicles with electric power steering.

      STAGE 2 INTAKE MANIFOLD FITMENT

      POWER STEERING
      This manifold will fit all VW 2.5L engines with the electric power steering system. Some later style engines use a hydraulic power steering pump, which sits right below the factory intake manifold. If your car is equipped with a hydraulic power steering pump, this manifold will not fit.

      AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION TUNE REQUIRED
      Automatic vehicles require a matching IE TCU Transmission tune to allow high revving of the automatic transmission. The stock automatic tune has internal transmission rev limit controllers that shift before the manifold and software can make the extra power gained through the upgrade. IE's Auto Transmission Tune removes this limiter allowing full advantage of the manifold & tune.

      Once a tune purchase is applied to your vehicle's ECU, the tune is permanently registered to the vehicle and non-transferable to other vehicles. Tune can be transferred to a second party in the event of vehicle transfer of ownership only.

      2013 Passat Running Stage 2

      It's a great upgrade, the driving experience is very much enhanced. At first I went with stage 1 plus TCU tune, and although that was not much of a performance upgrade, the product still delivered and I was happy with the changes. After deciding how to deal with the stock hydraulic steering pump, I went to stage 2 with the new manifold. The difference is night and day. Don't expect to blow the doors off turbo cars but for a naturally aspirated modification, it's honestly more than I was expecting. If you have a car with hydraulic power steering, consider you will need to spend more money and do more work, but it can absolutely be done. There is a power steering relocation kit sold online, but it requires you delete a/c. I opted to use a hydro electric pump from a Volvo and hooked that up to the stock rack. I learned this from drift guys on YouTube. There are several other things you need to do to make this work but that's the short version. My car is at 230,000 miles, I've been stage 2 for 40-maybe 50,000 miles. I drive a lot. I have had exactly zero issues from this kit OR the modifications required to fit it. If you are passionate about your 07k I can't imagine a scenario in which you'd regret buying this.

      There’s nothing to dislike about this tune in my opinion everything was easy to install if you knew how to do it, there videos out there to help but overall I like the pops and the reliability of it

      Just the boost I needed

      It gave a little boost, not much, but the rev hang is finally gone and it gave a consistent acceleration through the band which is what I wanted. Software is reliable and easy too.

      2013 VW 2.5 L Jetta mk6

      Had no problems installing except for the usb/ c cable.

      My car runs great. I did both tunes and it feels great. Catch myself at 100 cruising. I really need the rev limiter moved , but it all works well together.

      Great tune

      Great tune, very responsive, it was worth it, I don’t see much difference in gas mileage just the price for 91 hahaha, but I love it, getting stage 2 soon!
