FAQs
Why choose TrueShift over other paddle shifters?
TrueShift goes where no other MK7 GTI or Golf R paddle shifter can. Oversized aluminum blades and complete replacement assemblies deliver premium feel, while customizable RPM-aware vibration cues your chosen shift point. Dial in the feedback through the POWERlink app and make every shift exceptional.
How does TrueShift compare with paddle extensions?
Paddle extensions add reach to your existing shifters. TrueShift replaces the entire factory paddle assemblies, including the electronics, with oversized aluminum blades, machined finger pockets, magnetic shift action, and Bluetooth connectivity. A complete upgrade, down to the click.
What do I need to use TrueShift’s RPM feedback?
You’ll need TrueShift paddles, an iE POWERlink V4 tuner, and the POWERlink Mobile App for initial pairing and live adjustments. POWERlink V4 is sold separately and must remain plugged into the OBD-II port for RPM vibration to work.
Do I need an iE tune to use TrueShift paddles?
No. TrueShift works with stock, iE-tuned, and non-iE-tuned ECUs on supported vehicles. Feedback settings are controlled through POWERlink device settings and do not alter or interfere with your existing ECU tune.
Do the paddles still shift without POWERlink connected?
Yes. Normal paddle shifting, magnetic resistance, and the satisfying click work without POWERlink or the app connected. You will even receive a default tactile vibration as you pull a shifter. POWERlink V4 is required for RPM vibration; the app is required for initial pairing and settings adjustments.
Does my phone need to stay connected while I drive?
No. Use the POWERlink app for initial pairing and settings adjustments. After pairing, the paddles reconnect automatically to your POWERlink V4 tuner. Leave the tuner plugged in for RPM feedback; the app does not need to stay open.
Can I adjust the shift RPM and vibration strength?
Yes. Choose Fast Pulse, Triple Pulse, or Progressive feedback, set your shift point in 100 RPM increments, and adjust vibration intensity. Progressive can begin 100–800 RPM before your shift point. Changes take effect instantly through the POWERlink app, with no reflash.
What creates the magnetic feel and audible click?
The magnetic mechanism provides resistance as you pull, followed by a crisp release and satisfying click. Oversized aluminum blades and machined finger pockets complete the tactile experience, independently of RPM vibration.
